yep crappy day here too--woke up with a huge headache....took a bunch of advil and tried to go back to sleep....most of it is now just mild throbbing.

dentists? who needs them anyways--most of what they say is either common sense or a way for them to make money! 40 is high our highest is 33% but we dont get to count in train tickets --or basically much without yards of paperwork (and then still you might get audited!)...and now the government is really off its rocker here--/scratch head....

I dislike the topic of politics. Greatly. I don't like any type of arguing (or "debating", which sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't).

2 more days of work, counting today, before I move into my apartment... Will be a few days before I can get back online once I move in because I won't have my internet set up yet. Have to get a PO Box for them to send my bills too... Won't have that till Saturday or Monday...

Hi peeps, haven't been online for about a week. We lost one of our dogs of 12 years to cancer last Saturday and it has been really depressing. I guess you have to be a dog lover to understand how much a part of the family they become. Right now I am just trying to help our other pup get on as it was her sister.

understand COMPLETELY rr....when my mom's dog max died, well---we were all pretty much out of it for the whole month (max was 14 1/2 when he died--he was a great dog, even though he was mostly blind and deaf with arthritis so bad he could barely sit or stand--he kept going to keep my mom active....he was very sorely missed, and a year later my mom had to be moved to skilled care since she was no longer getting any exercise. He did his part and then some....if there is a doggy heaven he is there!)--still brings tears to my eyes just thinking about him...(there is a pic of him somewhere on one of these threads)

so yeah...I understand (and so does my family)....our condolences

pwnd....getting ready to move! the anxiety, the excitement, the---where did that box go???? and --what do you mean in order to get x I need y, when y says in order to get them I need x!

Sorry about your dog RR. I lost a dog that I had had for as long as I could member years ago to cancer. Very sad and depressing. So I sympathize with you.

Ya, already having fun with that... I have to go turn in an application to have them turn my water on BUT, they only work 9am-noon... wtf? Also to get Ameren-Cilco to put my name on the bill I have to fax them a copy of my drivers license and social security card because I don't have a credit history. >< Grrrr, it shouldn't be that flipping hard to put down my name>

ah, pwnd missed ...'things to do your senior year in college'
1 establish credit (usually done by applying to all of the department stores at your local mall)......or thru whichever gas you put in your car (shell was my first cc).
my freshman year in college I got an application sent to me by aarp! 'now that you are thinking about retiring----'

I had not even had my FIRST job yet, let alone money to retire on (at 18????

I got credit by buying a truck in 08. I still don't and will not ever have a credit card. Hate the concept of it and I hope that system fails.

That is where I am at too Slayer. I hate credit cards. They are too easily abused. But I am going to have to get one soon. Probably just a simple Visa that I will use like once a month just to build credit history.

you dont have to USE it--just have it for the credit reference. (though I do use my shell card to pay for gas--it built me a nice history of buying/paying so that WHEN I went to buy a car they saw I HAD at least somewhat of a credit history--).
best way is to get one...use it say once a year for something small (under $20)...and put it away again until the next year (magazine renewals or gym memberships come to mind). This shows you have credit, have paid it and know how to use it correctly.

So WHEN you have to prove you can pay for something (like a car or house) over time, you have something to show them. Its a silly system, yes...and there are very easy ways to abuse it (like big cc company's giving cc to every illegal that jumps the boarder).
but if you are smart--then you can avoid those things easily.

another hot one....spoke to my sister (outside chicago) says they have had one of the (if not the) rainiest july(s) on record! that should be good for the mosquito population---

You don't have to use your credit card only occasionally, but you really need one. If you ever want to rent a car or book a hotel they are a must.
Responsible use is all you need to remember. Thank you to all who understand how the loss of a pet is like losing a family member, which in my case they were part of our family.

I book hotels just fine with my Debit Card. And if you do have a credit card, you do have to use it or some places charge you anyway.

Ya I guess a debit card can work just as well, though it won't show up on your credit check...

Spending the weekend at home. Cilco can't turn my power on till Monday. ><
